El Jaguar Gated Community

Welcome to El Jaguar, the new community in Hacienda Pinilla, thoughtfully designed around existing trees, in harmony with nature, and created for those seeking a healthier lifestyle.

El Jaguar features three distinct subdivisions: Sunset Estates, Golf, and Sabana. Right now, we are standing in Sunset Estates, with an incredible tree behind us and the golf course directly in front.

Arne, tell us a little about what El Jaguar is doing to truly live in harmony with nature.

First of all, we designed the roads around the existing trees. Secondly, we installed two scarlet macaw nesting sites. We also invested in a monkey habitat study, which led to the creation of monkey bridges that allow wildlife to move safely through and access El Jaguar.

And when it comes to the lot layout, what have you done differently here to ensure the infrastructure also respects the natural environment?

All of the infrastructure is underground. In addition, we have open drainage channels that naturally carry rainwater. Essentially, wherever the water flows, it will feel and sound like a natural stream.

All of these elements come together to allow homeowners to enjoy their property immersed in nature while still benefiting from every modern convenience.

A residential setting shaped by the land

El Jaguar is the newest gated residential community within Hacienda Pinilla, a well-established resort and residential destination in Guanacaste. Located near Playa Avellanas, Playa Langosta, and Playa Mansita, the community offers large homesites within a landscape defined by golf frontage, mature trees, and open green areas in general.

Rather than imposing a rigid residential grid onto the land, El Jaguar has been planned around the existing environment. Roads, pathways, and homesites follow the character of the site, allowing native vegetation and established trees to remain part of the everyday residential experience.

Roads have been designed around mature trees. Wildlife movement has been considered through monkey habitat studies and the creation of monkey bridges. Scarlet macaw nesting sites have also been introduced, reflecting a broader commitment to native fauna and Guanacaste’s ecological character.

This approach gives the community a more grounded sense of place. The experience is not limited to scenic views from a terrace; it extends to morning walks, shaded bike rides, birdsong, and the quiet presence of the dry tropical forest that defines this part of Costa Rica’s northern Pacific coast.

Large homesites for privacy and outdoor living

Homesites at El Jaguar average approximately 2,000 square meters, with available lots ranging from approximately 1,800 to 3,000 square meters. This scale allows for expansive home designs, generous outdoor terraces, gardens, pools, shaded courtyards, and guest areas in general.

These lots are arranged to capture open views across the fairways and surrounding greenery. They consequently create a calm residential setting with a direct visual connection to the landscape.

El Jaguar is composed of three distinct areas: Sunset Estates, Golf, and Sabana. Each subdivision offers its own relationship to the terrain, green space, and surrounding views. This allows buyers to consider not only the size of a homesite, but the lifestyle it supports.

The Lung: a central green space for the community

At the heart of El Jaguar is “The Lung,” a landscaped central park designed around mature Guanacaste trees and open green areas. This shared space creates a natural focal point for the neighborhood and particularly reinforces the community’s emphasis on outdoor living.

For families and multi generational owners, central green space adds meaningful value. It creates room for children to explore, residents to gather, and daily routines to unfold outside the walls of the home. In a destination known for surf, golf, riding, and open-air living, this kind of planning supports the lifestyle buyers are often seeking when they choose Guanacaste.

Wellness, recreation, and movement

In essence, El Jaguar is designed for active living without the need to leave the community. Planned amenities include nature trails, outdoor exercise stations, parkour areas, recreational fields, and forest exploration areas. Additionally, there are vegetable gardens, compost areas, and a chicken coop connected to sustainable living initiatives.

These features create a residential environment that supports walking, jogging, cycling, outdoor exercise, and quiet time in nature in general. The goal is not to create a resort-style spectacle, but an environment where health is woven into ordinary days.

As part of Hacienda Pinilla, owners also benefit from proximity to a wider collection of established amenities. These include beach access, a beach club, tennis and pickleball courts, mountain biking trails, hiking paths, and horseback riding. BMX pump tracks, golf, an optional gym membership, and a full-service spa are also possibilities.

Modern convenience, quietly integrated

Overall, El Jaguar’s infrastructure has been planned to reduce visual disruption and preserve the natural character of the setting. Underground utilities help maintain clean sightlines, while open drainage channels are designed to carry rainwater in a way that feels closer to a natural stream than conventional stormwater infrastructure.

This balance is especially important for buyers who want the comfort of a structured gated community without losing the atmosphere that makes Costa Rica so compelling. El Jaguar offers controlled access, 24-hour security, planned water and waste management systems, and the reassurance of being located within the larger Hacienda Pinilla master plan.

A setting for long-term ownership

El Jaguar is a residential-only community designed around privacy, recreation, and multi generational living. Its large lots and nature-led planning make it particularly relevant for buyers seeking a primary residence, seasonal home, or legacy property in Guanacaste.

Infrastructure for the community is expected to be completed by February 2027. For buyers evaluating land within Hacienda Pinilla, El Jaguar presents an opportunity to build in a new enclave with golf frontage, preserved green space, and access to one of the region’s most established coastal lifestyle destinations.

In a market where many coastal developments promise connection to nature, El Jaguar’s value lies in the details: the roads that bend around trees, the wildlife crossings, the central green space, the trail network, and the restraint of a low density plan. Together, these elements create a community that feels considered, calm, and deeply connected to place.
